Home Care Services:
Personal Care Assistant
Activities of daily living (ADLs)
*Dressing – Including application of clothing and special appliances or wraps
*Grooming – Including basic hair care, oral care, shaving, basic nail care, applying cosmetics and deodorant, care of eyeglasses and hearing aids
*Bathing – Including basic personal hygiene and skin care
*Eating – Including completing the process of eating, including hand washing and application of orthotics required for eating, transfers and feeding
*Transfers – Including assistance to transfer the person from one seating or reclining area to another
*Mobility – Including assistance with ambulation, including use of a wheel chair; not including providing transportation
*Positioning – Including assistance with positioning or turning a person for necessary care and comfort
*Toileting – Including helping person with bowel or bladder elimination and care. This includes transfers, mobility, positioning, feminine hygiene, use of toileting equipment or supplies, cleansing the perineal area, inspection of the skin and adjusting clothing.
Instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs)
*Accompany to medical appointments
*Accompany to participate in the community
*Assist with paying bills
*Communicate by telephone and other media
*Complete household tasks integral to the PCA services
*Plan and prepare meals
*Shop for food, clothing and other essential items
A PCA worker may assist a child with IADLs when:
*Immediate attention is needed for health and hygiene reasons integral to the personal care services
*Assessor has indicated this need on the service plan
Observation and redirection of behaviors
*A PCA worker may observe and provide redirection to the recipient for episodes of behavior needing redirection as identified in the care plan
Homemaking- Clean Environment. Healthy Lifestyle.
Homemaker/cleaning services include light housekeeping tasks. Homemaker/cleaning providers deliver home cleaning and laundry services. We also use eco friendly cleaning solutions.
Homemaker/home management providers deliver home cleaning services and, while onsite, provide assistance with home management activities as needed. Home management activities may include assistance with:
• Arranging for transportation
• Meal preparation
• Shopping for food, clothing and household supplies
• Simple household repairs
Assistance with Activities of Daily Living
Homemaker/assistance with ADLs providers deliver cleaning services and, while onsite, provide assistance with ADLs as needed. Assistance with ADLs includes assistance with the following:
Self Pay Services:
Adult companion services cover services that help a person work toward a therapeutic or community integration goal in his/her support plan.
The adult companion may:
*Attend a movie with the person to practice coping skills to manage his/her social anxiety
*Go with the person to a community event to reduce his/her social isolation
*Play a board game with the person to enhance his/her fine motor skills
*Provide verbal instructions or cues to the person to help him/her complete a task
*Assist or supervise the person with tasks such as laundry, light housekeeping, meal preparation and shopping
The adult companion may assist or supervise the person with tasks such as laundry, light housekeeping, meal preparation and shopping only while he/she helps the person work toward a therapeutic or community integration goal. For example, the companion may shop with the person to practice budgeting skills. The companion cannot perform these tasks as distinct services.
